Pakistan: PM Will Not Resign

Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said June 9 he will not resign over the political turmoil caused by the suspension of Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, who was dismissed in March for alleged misconduct in what critics claim was the president’s attempt to weaken the court. Responding to calls for his resignation in the event that Chaudhry is reinstated, Aziz said he has done nothing to warrant stepping down.
